Have you just completed your festival shopping only to discover that you have exceeded your original budget by more than two thousand dollars? In the past, you would have had no option but to regret your impulsive expenditure and wait for the credit card statement to be delivered.

You would then have to scrap for money for months at a stretch to repay the excess amount that you spent using your credit card. Today, the World Wide Web has completely changed the scenario. You just have to log on to the Web and get in touch with other individuals who have committed the same mistake as yours.

The only difference here is that all those on the web would not be intent on just describing their problem. Rather, they would be intent on finding solutions. You would be accessing a huge data base containing the suggestion, tips, hints and guides offered by millions and millions of surfers of the World Wide Web.

Some options to control your debt problem include

-	Debt consolidation

This is a good option if you have sufficient income but need a bit of help to manage your debts. This is perfect if you were completely free of before you made the impulsive purchases. However, if you were already suffering from the problem of excessive debt and your Christmas shopping made it worse, then this option will not very feasible. It will not be easy to find lenders ready to offer a hefty consolidation loan to a person already deep in debt.

-	Debt settlement

There’s no denying that debt settlement is a drastic option. However, it must be considered if you want to get rid of your debt problem once in for all. When your debt problem comes down by forty to seventy percent, you’ll definitely find it easier to repay all the debts in full. What is more, you will get additional time to repay the amount and you will save a lot of money and interest as well. If your impulsive purchases were the final nail in your financial coffin, settlement is a much better option as compared to bankruptcy.

If you are over $10,000 in unsecured debt it would be wise to utilize a debt relief network instead of going directly to a debt settlement company. Using a debt relief network guarantees that the debt settlement company you choose has been certified and has established success in negotiating settlements. They are free to use and a good starting point to begin your debt relief process.

We all promise ourselves that we are only going to spend a certain amount of money for Christmas but we always seem to go overboard. I know that most of us want to give more than we can afford but in times like this you have to be especially careful. Sticking to a budget isn’t that hard it just takes commitment and planning.

The most common mistake people make is waiting till the last minute to do their Christmas shopping in turn leaving them not time to plan for a budget. Remember it is never too early to start thinking about your budget and more important putting that budget down on paper. If you wait until the last minute and don’t write down your budget I can almost guarantee you are going to exceed what you intended to spend.

The smartest thing to do is shop throughout the year while allotting a certain amount of money per check. This takes away the burden of having to stress over money when it comes to the first of December. It can be difficult to use this approach because we always seem to want to give the gift right away. The smartest approach is to set a certain amount of money aside each week. You can either stuff it under you mattress or better yet you could open a savings account specifically designed for Christmas season.

There are other people who count on their Christmas bonus from work to fund their Christmas spending spree. This strategy may work for some because it doesn’t cut into their monthly spending habits but what if you don’t receive that bonus? Everyone knows, especially in these economic times that nothing is guaranteed. Most bonuses are based on the company’s earnings for the year. If the company didn’t do as well as expected you might find yourself in a pickle with a bonus that is much smaller than anticipated or worse, no bonus at all.

For those of you that plan to use credit cards it is equally important that you have a budget as well as a plan. You could spread the Christmas shopping throughout the year and pay off the debt as you go but we all know that it is very unlikely to pan out that way. Don’t forget that you are going to be paying interest on whatever money you charge on your cards and we all know that can be very expensive.

We all go into the Christmas seasons with the best of intentions. We want to find the perfect gift while staying within our budget. If you just can’t control yourself make sure that you keep things in perspective and avoid going too far over budget. If you find that you’ve spent too much on a particular person you can easily recover by spending less on the next person. Either way, at least make a list with the amount allotted for each person and it will help you stay within your budget better than anything else.

We all know how important it is to provide nutritious meals for your family. However, the expense of the groceries needed accomplish this can definitely have an affect on your planning.

To help you budget the cost of preparing nutritious meals, you have to properly plan it. Don’t let parts of the items that you use to prepare meals end up thrown in the trash. For example, if you only need a half head of the lettuce today, you need to plan for another meal to utilize the other half so that it will not be wasted.

* When it comes to your grocery shopping habits, remember that convenience usually means more expensive. Sure, it may take a little bit longer to make home cooked foods, but it’s less pricey than purchasing frozen products that may be more convenient to use. If time is your priority, then it’s still best to go ahead and cook different foods that you can store in the fridge or frezzer for several days.

* Many people buy grocery items based on its brand name that they know. But, have you stopped to compare this price from store brand? Well, if you have not, you really need to because you’ll might just be amazed with the price difference. Store brand or generic brand can be quite a savings compared to actual brand names. When you buy the store/generic brands that don’t carry all the name brand and advertising expense, you can really save a good amount of money.

* Many people love to cook using different herbs and spices, however the price of herbs and spices can inflate your budget. But, with just a little bit of effort, you can grow herbs and spices in your backyard or even do some small container gardening. In addition to the cost savings it’s also a fun activity with your family.

* You can even go beyond the herbs and spices and plant vegetables on a small garden section of your backyard. Again, this won’t cost you much when it comes to buying the seeds and it is a very relaxing activity to get started in. You can also explore planting your own fruits in your yard. Just by doing this, you’ll be able to save money, you’ll learn new things and you may just discover a new passion.

* Also… a quick reminder… when you buy fresh fruits or vegetables it’s best to choose whole than those already chopped… remember convenience costs money against your budget.

* Another expensive items at grocery store is meat. Before you buy meat, be sure to check its per pound price. You’ll discover that the bigger packages offer you a lesser cost per pound. So, try buying the bigger portions and then dividing them into appropriate sizes for your meals and freeze the rest. This is a great way defer the cash you spend on meats.

With just a few of these beneficial tips and a little planning, you will definitely save yourself some cash at the grocery stores.

In a highly competitive field, all traders vie for expertise. They take extra care in developing their craft. Years of learning is involved in knowing the practical moves of trading strategies and techniques to be able to participate in the currency trading. To be above the rest, the use of robots has become a good alternative. Today these robots have evolved to become fully automated. Hence, even anybody can participate in the market as long as one is assisted by any of these robots.

These virtual assistants have proven themselves of great help most especially to people trying their hands at trading in the hopes of earning extra income. This is the reason for the sudden increase in demand for robots these past years. The greatest thing is that there are a lot of robots to choose from each having different features tailored to the needs of just about anybody. You will just have to research and find out which robot will be the best virtual assistant for you taking into account your needs and goals. As you shop for your robot, try to learn of the positive and as well as the negative feedback on the robot. As an example to help you get, started is an examination of the Forex Megadroid.

This software boasts of a 95-96% accuracy rating. A fully automated robot meaning it function on its own from the collection of data, to data analysis and even up to trading. This has two outstanding features the Reverse Correlated Time and Price Analysis and the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The effect is that it can predict market movements 2-4 hours before the actual shifting and thus giving the trader an advantage to plot his game plan. Aside from this, because of its AI it learns from every trading. It will not again engage in a similar trade to a previous losing trade. The upside is that it will replicate previous winning trades when the market condition presents a similar scenario.

The downside of this software is that, if left on its own, it engages on winning trades or sure-win trades only. This is the reason why it maintains a high accuracy rating. The result is that it will not bring in much monetary gains for it merely waits for that winning trade. The software allows the trader the advantage to plan his strategy 2-4 hours ahead but when the same is executed the software cannot stop at mid-trading. The trader will just have to bear the loss.

If what you have learned suits your needs and goals, the next step is to obtain a demo copy so you can try your hand at it. If things work out for you well consider the robot as an option. Try other robots and make a comparison. After all that, make a choice. With this procedure, you would get a virtual assistant that will work for you.

It is a proven fact that we spend far too much on unnecessary food and drink items that we don’t really need. Most of the time all we are achieving is to line the pockets of the supermarket giants. They want you to buy as much as possible so how can we save money to help us ultimately get out of debt?

We all could do with a lesson in spending when it comes to food shopping. We buy far too any unnecessary items but the supermarket stores are clever in the way they market their items. With buy-one-get-one-free promotions and the like, you can see why you go in for a carton of milk and come out with a whole trolley load. Learn how to control and manage what you spend on your food and you will be able to get out of debt.

So what things can we do to try to adjust our spending habits?

For example, buy cheaper cuts of meat. Yes it might not taste quite as nice but when you owe thousands and are in debt then cutbacks need to be made. Buy loose vegetables and avoid pre-packaged vegetables as they are a lot cheaper. Buy local food in season as it is cheaper to do so rather than buying food that has been transported halfway across the world.

Try to cut out meat completely for a couple of days a week – it can save you money. Check out the supermarket’s delicatessen counter. You will find loose cheese, cold meats and other deli items at lower prices than expensive pre-packed goods in store.

If you really want to save money then avoid the branded items and go for the cheaper alternative. This could be another brand or just the supermarket’s own branded label. The food is still good – a supermarket is not going to put their name on something that is not of reasonable quality. When you are trying to get out of debt – drastic action needs to be taken and this includes a significant change in overall shopping habits.

Of course you could shop online. This is a great way to budget as your shopping basket is added up immediately – as soon as you add an item to it, the total is visible before you pay. So you know exactly how much it is going to cost and if you go over your budget, simply put back some items. It is far more difficult to do this whilst actually walking around a supermarket store – unless you take a calculator around with you and add up every single item.

Remember, supermarket stores want you to spend your money with them. But when you are trying to get out of debt you need to budget and be sensible so be one step ahead and keep your hard earned cash in your pocket.

Using prepaid cards is a guaranteed way to protect your bank account when you are shopping online. Sure you can have identity protection, fraud protection, over-the-limit protection, or any other combination of “protections”, but the truth is that online predators are good at what they do. They are extremely smart people that have mastered the programs that control the banking industry. Shopping online is very convenient and most times you are safe, but if you are not careful the wrong people can get your personal information. They can literally take all the money you have and remove it from your account in an instant… unless you never give them the opportunity. As an illustration, the following story explains this very real threat:

Susie enjoys easy access to popular trends. She does a lot of shopping online to get great deals and unique items. For her, the days of standing in lines and circling parking lots are long gone. She makes her life a whole lot easier by using the web to make purchases. She enjoys the comfort of placing orders at her convenience and getting great gifts for her loved ones. Susie, feeling confident that that all websites are safe and secure, always uses her bank’s debit card to make her purchases. After years of online shopping with no problems at all, one day things changed.

One of the websites she made a few purchases from had been breached. As a result, all her bank account information was stolen – and she didn’t know it yet. Two days passed before she checked her statement, and when she did, she noticed a zero balance and a bunch of unauthorized purchases so she immediately called the bank. The bank’s representative confirmed what she thought would never happen – she had been the victim of an online predator, and her bank account was depleted. She had protection on her account from the bank, and they agreed to conduct an investigation. Luckily, she would be reimbursed upon the findings of the investigation, but this process could take up to 30 days. In the meantime, she would have no money at all.

There is a way this could have been avoided. If Susie had a prepaid card for her online purchases, she could have conducted all of her online shopping without risking access to her personal account. Her account would have never been compromised and she would not be broke right now. With a prepaid card, she could enjoy the luxury of shopping online like she does with her debit card, but without any of the risk because her personal banking account would never be attached to the transaction! When you shop with a prepaid card, no one can steal the money that is in your checking or savings account.

Make sure you protect your bank account when you are shopping online and use a prepaid card instead. You get all of the benefits with none of the risk.

A proverb goes like this: “A fool and his money are soon parted.” This is not just applicable to men but also to women who often play the fool whenever it is sale season. Most run low on cash even if payday was only a week ago. They resort to charging their credit cards or taking out a cash til payday loan. Indeed, women and money have a complex and symbiotic relationship it seems. And since money can also be an emotionally charged topic, many women have a hard time talking about it (especially some things that are related to credit cards), so what more is managing it? In recent years, more and more women are becoming financially independent and successful: they manage their stocks and investments, have bank accounts, even own their businesses and companies. Truth to tell, it is not the earning of money that’s posing a problem, it’s spending it well so enough is left for the future.

Money is not just money. It is also a means to an end. For example, money can mean independence, security, or even power. All working women must realize that she has a responsibility to educate herself about her finances. For some, they already know what to do but their problem is they find it hard to begin and get going. So, like having a big instant payday loan and one already knows where it will go, basic money management starts with the shopping money and how to handle it. This article will not tell its readers to stop shopping altogether, but rather, it will tell them that shopping smart is the key to spending wisely. At the end of every shopping frenzy and the hapless women snap out of their reverie, the question they would woefully ask is, “Where did my money go?” Here are some crucial money management tips that may come in handy.

First, each person should ask themselves how much they are worth. Responsible women would list down their personal statement of assets and liabilities. A simple list would be one column for sources of income and another column for expenses and debts. Speaking of expenses, it is advisable to track each one. Financial experts tell that tracking expenses is the foolproof way to find out if a person is living within her means or spending too much. Lastly, financially responsible women should create their own budget. A budget helps in reining in the spending. It is as important to balance self-discipline with realism.

For many individuals dabbling in certificates of deposits as part of their investment plans, understanding how historical CD rates affect their investments is a very essential part of success. After all, history does serve a purpose in making decisions in the present and mapping the future.

Here are a few things to remember about historical CD rates before you shop around for the best financial institution to deposit your money in.

Larger Principal = Higher Interest

Generally speaking, when you invest a larger sum of money in a CD instrument, you will be able to enjoy higher interest rates. For many banks, bracket amounts are provided so that customers can choose which one suits their investment plans the best possible way. However, you can also expect that this may not be the case for all banks. Various reasons can be provided for it, with the most notable being that the long-term outlook for the economy may not be as positive as you will want to have it. Keep in mind that CD rates are highly dependent on the interest rates provided for other variables in the economy.

Longer Term = Higher Interest

In a relatively stable economy, your long-term CD should yield higher interest income than your short-term deposits. For example, a 6-month CD will yield 1.190 percent, the 3-year CD is at 2.230 percent while the 5-year CD provides for 2.810 percent interest. As such, it is better to opt for the long-term CD if your investment plan calls for higher income on your deposits. However, you must reverse your decision in an inverted yield curve. In this case, short-term CDs are preferable over their long-term counterparts because you want to protect your investments as much as you possibly can in a downturn.

Non-Insured and Insured

It is always better to opt for CDs that are insured especially in our troubled economy. Of course, non-insured CDs can yield higher interests than insured CDs but you have to remember that you are taking greater risks. You may not be able to recoup your money investments if and when the financial institution closes due to bankruptcy or other organizational problems.

The National Credit Union Administration insures your certificates of deposit with credit unions while the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation insures them with the banks. You must always ask for the insurance coverage and where the economy is spotty, never deposit in an account an amount more than the possible coverage. This way, whatever happens to the financial institution, you can recoup your principal investment.

Jumbo CDs and IRA Accounts

You must also compare historical rates on jumbo CDs and IRA accounts to determine which one will fit your investment plans. Generally speaking, jumbo CDs have higher rates of interest to compensate for the greater risk. Take note that the minimum deposit amount is at $100,000 and this is bumping the limit of the FDIC insurance coverage. On the other hand, IRA accounts have generally lower interest yields because of the higher administration expenses associated with them. However, the risks will also be lower. Again, always determine if these rates fit into your risk tolerance level and investment plans.

You can learn many things from studying the trends in historical CD rates. It is up to you to use your knowledge to make informed decisions.

Many younger people have never even heard of the term “layaway”. It is essentially a way to buy something in a store without having to pay for it all up front. However, you don’t actually receive the product at that point. Instead, you pay in installments to the store until the full price is met and then you’re able to pick it up and take it home.

If you’re scratching your head and wondering “Why would anyone do something like that?” then you’re not alone. Because in the past couple of decades, the concept of putting something on layaway has been replaced almost entirely by one thing: credit cards.

The thought process of “I’m going to be able to pay for this soon anyway, so I’ll just put it on my credit card” has plunged our nation into serious and record consumer debt. Because, as we all know, that purchase rarely gets paid for in the time frame you had originally intended (or at least rationalized in your head or to your spouse in the store). So interest racks up over months and months and the item can often end up costing you significantly more than the original price.

These days, it’s so easy to get a credit card that kids just turning 18 are already going into debt. These are the same kids who couldn’t tell you what the term layaway even means. To them, if they want something…there’s no need to wait to save up for it. Just charge it to the credit card and eventually get around to paying it off. Unfortunately, for many of their parents who grew up with THEIR parents putting purchases on layaway, the thought process is the same. We have become a nation of have-to-have-it-now consumers, regardless of the long term costs.

There are studies showing that layaway is making a comeback, though. Since 2008, the United States has been in a recession and consumers are slowly being forced to be smarter with their finances. Credit card spending, as well as overall spending, is down significantly. But people still need to plan for purchases. Kids are still going to have birthdays. Christmas is still going to come every year on December 25th. So stores are experiencing somewhat of a layaway “revival”. It is especially prevalent during the holiday shopping season. Major stores like Sears and K-Mart are even promoting their layaway options in their Sunday ads!

One of the most shocking news stories regarding layaway that I have seen occurred on October 12th of this year (2009) when Apple Computer announced that they will allow layaway purchases at their retail stores. Apple is often viewed as the computer company for the wealthy and style conscious. To hear that they are promoting layaway purchases at their stores is sobering news about the state of our economy, I must admit. Sobering as it may be, however, it is good news because it shows that the demand for layaway is strong enough now for companies like Apple to embrace. A stronger demand for layaway purchases means that consumers are being smarter about their purchases and not going into reckless debt during the holidays just to afford what they want. Bad news for credit card companies, but I figure that they’re still going to be doing just fine for years to come. It’s hard to feel sad for credit card companies, really. With their outrageous fees and predatory tactics, they are about the lowest form of business I can think of.

I am cheering on layaway from the bench and I hope that it is successful for stores who are allowing it again. Any sign of smarter consumer spending and less consumer debt is a good thing, in my eyes.

Chris has vowed to not spend a dime on his credit card this holiday season and hopes you won’t have to either. He also operates a Sonicare toothbrush heads website that sells Sonicare replacement heads and other Philips Sonicare products.
